Module 3Lesson 1
15 minSelf-Consistency
Self-consistency improves accuracy by generating multiple diverse reasoning paths and selecting the most consistent answer. This is particularly effective for complex reasoning tasks.
How It Works
The model is prompted multiple times with the same question, generating various reasoning paths. The final answer is determined by majority vote among the outputs.
Advantages
- Improved Accuracy: Less likely to be misled by flawed logic
- Increased Reliability: Answer supported by multiple lines of evidence
- Better for Complex Problems: Well-suited for problems with multiple solution paths
Limitations
- Increased Computational Cost: Requires more resources and time
- Requires Diverse Reasoning: Effectiveness depends on genuinely diverse paths
